TCFT: Fluid Intelligence and Visual-Spatial Representation's subtestsby
By the end of 1999, I had the idea to design a test which gathers many kind of factorial measurements: memory (2M), cristallised intelligence (2C), visual-spatial representation (2V), long term memory recuperation (R) and fluid intelligence. The first part of the test will be dedicated to the measurement of the fluid intelligence factor. Among the primary factor most saturated by factor 2f, we find the factor of inductuf reasoning (I). Because the 2f factor practically identified at general factor 3g (cf. Gustaffson, 1984), the sub-test presented at the beginning of the TCFT is also a good test of intelligence's general factor. The generic model used is the concept of Progressive Matrices Standards (PM38) of J. Raven (in 1938) starting from the Spearman's theory. It was on the same idea that I produced the matrices which will make the opening of TCFT. Indeed just like Raven's one, the sequence of my matrices is divided into few parts: Elementary Matrices (EM), Elementary Disorganizing Matrices (EDM), Advanced Matrices (AM). I'll not de delayed on the EM since it's only generic's diagram not setting up any originality. On the oher hand it's wise to pay attention to the EDM and thus to try an explanation of their design. With this intention i's rigor to defin the use of "Disorganizing" because it's in this concept that rests the difference between the first two series. Indeed the EDM are formed on the EM's principle, i.e. they used the same logicals elementary rules. In spit of the simplicity of the problem in each items, in EDM are controls by a disturbed space alignment: the vertical linearity and the horizontal perfect one of the basic matrix are disorganized. According to this aspect some among you'll say me that it had been more relevant ta name this series by using the word "Disorganized". However I'll answer that a appelation Elementary Disorganized Matrices will be able only to forget the roots even cognitive psychometry, since the aim of all presented items is an appreciation of the testee's capacity. It's in this spirit that it's wise to se the word "Disorganising", in the direction where alignment put is distractor's vector of the cognitive tool. Moreover the disarganisation allows to include in the exercise ab approach of the visualisation's factor VZ even primary factor of visual-spatial representation 2V. Then I chose to present the sub-test of visuo-spatial representation. This one is divided in two parts: Spatial Relationships Research (SRR) and Personal Spatial Interpretation (PSI). Its design is not original and I do not judge necessary to provide more expliquations, however if you wish to know some more, my e-mail is at your disposal. To finish you'll find two of the parts of the crystallized intelligence sub-test : Analogies by N Lygeros and Numerical Ability.
Complete in the five next series the matrices with a-e. The items become more difficult as the series progress. Series 1) Elementary Matrices (X, Jouve)
Series 2) Elementary Disorganising Matrices (X. Jouve)
Series 3) Advanced Matrices
Series 1) Spatial Relationships Research (X. Jouve) Find among the answers suggested the two figures, which follow the first. Pay attention to the command imposed by the direction of the needles of a watch when logic uses a rotation. Give your consequently response.
Series 2) Personal Spatial Interpretation (X. Jouve) This exercise consists in expressing in your own words so yes or not the last figure corresponds to the logical continuation of the series.
Complete the following series in the best possible way. : means "is to" :: means "as"
