To be honest i was expecting an answer like "Yes, a calculator!" :D.

Aaron if you think about an object too much then you might find a complex answer which is not going to be the correct (intended). Answers are mostly simple.
On the other hand you cannot be 100% sure about the uniqueness of the solution and thats why sometimes authors ask for explanations.

Thanks for the help! I wouldn't so much consider the answer complicated so much as why that answer is the best answer. Sometimes this can be EXTREMELY hard. On the slse I, their are a few problems where you have to explain your answer. Although the problem seems easy, it can sometimes be very hard to justify why the pattern indeed holds. This explains the why fewer people have solved the problem in the statistical report.

btw, have you spent any time on the sequences yet? I think that they are pretty good. It's too early to judge the difficulty of the problems but I would guess that 4 sigma would be around 16 raw.

Deadline 1/1/2011 + i am infinite lazy = i will give them a try later on!

To be honest i am discouraged by the fact that a good knowledge of english is required and my level is somewhat above intermediate.
I'll give it a shot but wont be persistent.

Good "luck" to all btw!

Does anyone know?

Is the 11th term in question 33) in Numerical Sequences meant to say '17-0.115' or is it an error ie should it read '170.115'?

Xavier, I sent in my problems a little less than a week ago. Did you receive them all?

self-FAIL on the analogies :)
Xavier, are you still going to norm the contest with knowledge taken into account?
Assuming that knowledge and reasoning have norms that change somewhat with age, do you expect analogies to do the same?

I wanted to say that I am thankful for receiving my results in three working days, as promised.
I must admit that I was unpleasantly surprised when I saw my score
on the SEQ section of the rank list, because I thought I offered simple and
logical solutions for at least 14 problems. But, seeing how I really put trust
in Mr. Jouves work, I guess that was merely the result of my self-overestimation.
Thank you for the contest.

vmisic, every time that I submit my answers for sequence tests/contests, I seem to score a few less than I thought. On this contest, I was certain that I got a 15. One of the answers that I submitted is unexpected. I know this for fact. Perhaps it was a fluke, but this problem had a very strange but logically correct answer. If I were to make a sequence test, I would do as Ivan Ivec does, chose maybe one of two problems, and send your multiple answers along with explanations as to why these answers are correct. This would enable better discriminatory ability at all levels. Good work on the contest though and best of luck to you!

Had a good squiz at the contest. Much to my dismay though you have some ghastly anagram things that don't agree with some people and that are probably very simple for most. I think it is some cue to hit the yoga classes. or at least stop engaging in anymore criminal activity, where such people come out the one hit foots the bill through obsessive naive idiocy. seriously though, anagrams and verbal I.Q(in person) tests, what is the connection. I am with the belief it has some similarity to verbal fluency or the ability to seem human when explaining things. Let me put this to you guys? Who long-winded bores like a robot and sucks at part 3?

I don't, just wondering thats all
